The Grantham Town Hall is relatively new - built in 2005.  I searched around and found the Historical Society building near by, but that appears to have been a school in its early days.  So for right now, the original Town Hall in Grantham is a mystery to me.  Would take some digging.

I felt so much better leaving Grantham than I did when I ran into town just 7 days ago.  Happy with how my legs and body bounced back after 17 grueling miles.  Another bright sunny fall day with vibrant colors all around.

The course was sustained uphill along main road 114.  Traffic was light which I was glad for as there were a number of windy stretches with little shoulder room.  The road ran near run off streams in a number of locations with rock walls - very pretty and the sound of running water was frequently in the air.  We had some recent heavy much needed rain that helps swell the streams.  Almost seemed spring like with run off.

Not too much to report from run, though I do wish in hindsight I'd taken my phone with me to get some pics with the foliage.  Some interesting notes - ran past a wood shingled house (has a Springfield fair sign on it) and was surprised to see some rather large brown fur pigs run along side the fence and oink at me as I passed by.

When I run I often come up with crazy thoughts that I talk myself out of as being ridiculous later.  One thought that hasn't made it into the crazy bucket yet is to get a GoPro and record what I would call "Running Bookends".  The idea would be to video the first and last 2 or 3 minutes of each leg to show what it looks like departing from and arriving at town halls.  We'll see.  Need to running think on it some more.

This leg was under 6 miles and with Nancy meeting me just passed halfway I felt comfortable the whole way, even though it seemed like a perpetual hill until about mile 5.  Not much to speak of at Springfield Town Hall that is just off 114 at fork that heads toward 4A.  There's a town hall and historical society building.  That's about it.

After the run, and driving next couple of legs, Nancy and I enjoyed lunch and ale at Little Brother's Burgers in the heart of New London.  I don't know how the waiter handled the whole crowd - did a great job and food was good. I had the Rocket Burger that included a kick with Jalapeno.  With Colby Sawyer College in town there are a number of food options - far more than we've seen on our recent travels.

Next up is just under 10 miles to Wilmot -- primarily running on route 4A.  I expect the number of dirt road / back roads is going to reduce as I start to head southeast closer towards Concord and more populated areas.  We shall see.
