LEG 019 - Apr 15, 2022
Leg 029 -- Aug 14, 2022
Unity to Goshen
Distance: 6.64 Time: 1:05:07
Perfect summer day to run - sunny, dry, comfortable. Even better -- I can run some flat and downhill sections.

Got to Unity around 10 and opted to take Gilman Pond road as opposed to the unknown and uncharted Potato Hill. Was the right call. Leg starts mostly downhill on 2nd New Hampshire Turnpike. About a mile in left on Gilman Pond which is a dirt gravel surface. Plenty of shade and peaceful. Only a handful of cars seen while on the run. At about 2 1/2 the road has more noticeable down sections. Here's the elevation chart:
Near the end of Gilman Pond I stopped for support and just happened there was a Barn Sale - so I joined Nancy looking through to see if we could find anything. Wound up with a couple of stuffed animals for the dogs to destroy. When we leave for days like this Augie is always chewing up something, so we can leave these out next week and see if he takes the bait. Chatted with the owners who have lived on the property since '64.

When Gilman Pond ends there's a right and left on Leer Hill. There's an incline at the start, but not too bad. Towards the tail end there's one steep hill about 1/4 mile long - reminder that even on downhill legs there always seems to be at least one tester.

Once out to Route 10 it was less than 1/2 mile to Goshen Town Hall. No town center to speak of, at least at this section. There's the church, library and fire station - but no traditional town green here. Just cars passing through.

Next up -- Sunapee -- and back to plenty of uphill running. Enjoyed the refreshing break this week. Ever onward!
