LEG 014 - Jan 16, 2022
Roxbury to Harrisville
Distance: 9.69 Time: 1:36:41
Got this second leg done, but question is .... was there a price paid? I'm lying down icing my right knee which is flaring up post run. Didn't bother me during the run, but I fear I may have pushed a bit too far with all of the elevation and extended distance (turns out answer to that question is yes -- I would wind up taking all of March off to recover from this run and my silliness of running the next few legs when I should have taken time off).

Waited until noon to run so that temperature could moderate out of the single digits. I was plenty warmed up when leaving Roxbury Meeting House. Due to snow conditions the only viable route involved running out to 101 and running east back towards Marlborough before turning off to Old Roxbury Rd, at which point the climb up begins - culminating when reaching Old Harrisville Road. The slope continued to steepened. I never felt the urge to stop or walk, but my pace was more a slow plod.

Plenty of cemeteries along the way. Pretty to look at in the snow as I trudged on. The last 3 miles were rolling and pleasant. My gas tank was definitely on "E", but I got it done!

My Apple watch showed 98 flights climbed today .... a record for sure! With over 1000 feet elevation up this was my biggest test to date, especially with overall distance over 12 miles.

Definitely a sign of runs to come. Hard not to fixate on the elevation challenge most every leg brings. All part of the challenge.
