Troy to Marlborough

 

Leg005 - Troy to Marlborough – Dec 12, 2021  ….. Length: 6.21 Miles  …. Time: 53:35

 

Great morning for a run!  Crisp blue skies.  Troy center quiet.  Tried running for first time with smartphone arm band and to see if Google maps would give me verbal turn instructions, but to no avail.  I expect there’s a conflict with the mapmyrun app I have running on my smartwatch.  Ah this technology - gotta love it.  I want to figure this out for future when there are runs with quite a few turns to navigate.

Due to recent snow cover and ice I opted to stay clear of Cheshire Rail Trail.  If I was running this at a different time of year would definitely recommend taking the Rail Trail for part of the route - but only makes sense for 1st mile.

 

Pushed myself a bit with this run as I knew the last two miles were downhill.  I was caught a bit off guard by the incline, especially miles 3 and 4.  Didn’t seem like much in the car and on the map, but it was enough for me to take notice and pull my pace by by 30/sec per mile.  Come to find looking at terrain there was a Cat 5 section.  Poor grade for scouting.

 

The last two miles was a dream - would not have wanted to run the leg in reverse.  My weekly running getting out 2x week for 8 to 10 total miles seems like a good place for me to maintain fitness and avoid injury.

 

Am now sharing what I’m doing with people and on Instagram so I want to feel confident that I’m in a good place to keep this going.  I hate hate hate the idea of starting something I can’t finish.  Figured that by sharing what I’m up to is added motivation to push through.  I’m very thankful for Nancy’s support to help make this all possible.

 

Marlborough town hall is a non discript house like structure that shares space with Police.  Sits on the outskirts of town and seems like a case where town finds an out of the way spot that doesn’t cost much to maintain.  Can’t imagine this was original town hall location - more like an old homestead.
