LEG 002 - Nov 21, 2021

Jaffrey to Rindge

Found a great route to stay off roads for 3.7 miles along the Monadnock Rail Trail.  Easy access in Jaffrey just a stone’s throw from Jaffrey Center / Town Hall, on the other side of 202 intersection.

Rail trail is flat and stays clear of the main road and is nice and peaceful.  Once off the rail trail take left on West Main and go up a slight rise to 119.  The climb continues after turning left onto 119 and then levels off about ¼ before right turn and then up (yes, noticeable up) Payson.

This leg is an easy route to follow.  Town Hall is on the outskirts of town center, so for the next leg I’m going to be sure to run through town before heading back out to 119.  With the suburbanization of NH this is one case where main road bypasses the town without ever seeing it.

I’d rate this run a 4 (10 being highest) on difficulty.  Not a long run with first â…” flat along rail trail.  Difficulty picks up for last mile and a half.   I’m sure this will seem like nothing compared to what lies ahead.

Side note:  Had COVID 19 booster yesterday.  Sore right shoulder, but not the fatigue I experienced with second shot.

    Distance: 5.71    Time: 51:29
